CLIMB AKOPAN TEPUI. In the confines of Canaima National Park, UNESCO'S Natural World Heritage, south-eastern
Venezuela, border with Brazil and Guyana. Takes 4 days to climb Akopan Tepui, (on the wall) through the shortest, least technical route, up to a month, taking the longest and most logistically complicated routes. Approach is made by aircraft from Caracas, or any indigenous town near by, to land inside the National Park boundaires. Ultimately, is up to the indigenous chief and the community, to give or to deny permission to climb their sacred mountains "tepuis". The window of opportunity to climb in the Amazon ranges from late January, to mid April, when cycles of dryer climate offer better chances to the success of the climb. The max number per climbing party is of 6, with a greater number allowed at base camp, where you may follow the unfold of the climb. Want to participate?
