THE TALAMANCA RANGE
Costa Rica
The Talamanca Range, is the highest and wildest mountain range of Central America, where the International Park Talamanca-La Amistad lies sharing the borders of Costa Rica and Panama. Here the panorama shapes into a Biosphere Reserve, preserving the nortern most extensions of the South American highlands, with a biodiversity of species unequalled to any other wold reserve of equivalent size.
The uniqness and primal quality of these forests, tied to its ancestral inhabitants roots, made it raise to the category of Natural World Heritage by UNESCO, since 1983.
The area is part of theBiological Mesoamerican Corridor, a project lead by Unesco, and shared by eight Central American countries, to help preserve the remains of these mountain forests and its wildlife.

Expedicion Details:
7 days total. (5 to summit Kamuk and back to the N.P. Refuge, and 2 days for approach/retrieve). Journeys range from 6 to 12 hrs of hikes. The scramble to the summit is non technical. The trails in the Talamanza range are not signed and often gets consumed by its own wildlife. Water is found only near campsites.
